EV Range To Add Pull-Through Electric Chargers in Kettleman City, California

By Joe Glassmeyer, Site Acquisition Specialist

Last year, we successfully launched electric vehicle charging stations at the Quality Inn located in Kettleman City, California. And, this year, we're thrilled to announce our expansion of this location!

Kettleman City sits along a crucial highway corridor connecting San Francisco, Sacramento, and Los Angeles, making it an ideal stopover for drivers traveling between these cities. Currently, we have 2 fast chargers available, capable of adding 200 miles of range in just 10 minutes.

This was a full-stack project for our team! From start to finish we worked closely with the team at the Quality Inn to get the first phase of chargers installed and up and running. "The Kettleman City installation exemplifies our comprehensive range of products and services. This includes collaborating with property owners to design a site, partnering with local governments to secure grants and incentives, working with utility companies to enhance power infrastructure, and utilizing our own software to ensure the chargers remain operational for years to come,” said Carl Pancutt, CEO of EV Range.

We are seeing a steady increase of drivers charging at the Kettleman City location and often for longer durations. We expect this increase in usage trend will continue over the coming months and years. With this data in hand, and in partnership with the Quality Inn team, we’ve commenced plans to deploy additional pull-through high-powered, fast chargers to be operational by Q1 2024.

Pull-through fast chargers meet the needs of many electric vehicle chargers and enable the site to prepare for the future. These kinds of charging stations allow vehicles to drive through, without reversing, making it perfect for larger vehicles and those towing trailers to access the charging infrastructure. With the addition of pull-through fast chargers, we will be able to accommodate all types of light, medium and heavy duty EVs.

Adding Charging to Your Site

So, what does it take to add EV charging to your site? With EV Range, you're gaining a comprehensive partner. We're a team of EV experts with decades of experience in the electric vehicle industry. Together, we collaborate with customers to design, develop, engineer, deploy, and manage EV charging stations.

One of the most common questions we receive from customers inquiring about charging stations is regarding the cost of installation and management. With numerous government incentives and grants available, we have assisted the majority of our customers in securing funding to offset expenses. In the case of the Quality Inn chargers, we secured a significant portion of costs - over $120,000 for the first two installed chargers and $250,000 for two medium/heavy duty chargers that are currently a work in process.

Furthermore, an increasing number of government grants are now accessible for business owners ready to electrify their sites. The National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program (NEVI) is among the latest initiatives that can aid businesses in securing up to 80% of the necessary funding to incorporate DC Fast Chargers into their facilities. Due to its location and high-power chargers, locations like Kettleman City are particularly well suited to take advantage of the NEVI program. EV Range possesses the team, experience, and resources to apply for and obtain funding from sources like NEVI.
